Where Are You Sister ?

This picture of the fairy and child was done by Billi, it is a beautiful piece of artwork unto itself, yet lending to the topic of this page sends a powerful image of love between a mother and a child which bond never breaks no matter what end of the adoption triad you may be. She graciously has allowed me to use this for website. She is also an adoptee. Please let her know how wonderful her artwork is at GlowCreations@aol.com.

Letter To My Lost Sister

This quilt square is included in the adoption quilt which travels all over the world for all to see.
There is also one added for my birth son as well.

In the beginning after I found out of your existence, I was overwhelmed with the knowledge of you. I was too young and inexperienced of life to understand the choices we as women sometimes are coerced into making. Our mother was of a different era and her choices were even more limited than ours given the same circumstances.

For years I put the thought of you safe within my distant memories of facts that would later become this need to connect and find you.

You are my big sister, as I am to my brothers and sister and the sisters and brother I have found already that were also lost and needing to be found. What a blessing these siblings are to my life. Though late in connecting the bond is as strong to these half siblings as the bonds between my full siblings.

I often wonder how your life was growing up, knowing we were born the same year, and knowing you faced some of the same challenges and choices that our generation witnessed and participated in.

I wonder if you are like me in physicality and or temperament. Do you have a husband or significant other and children? Do you have brothers and sisters through adoption as well as a Mom and Dad who loved you and cherished you as is your right in life?

I somehow sense you and I have parallel lives and have been close in proximity of each other through the years. I have felt your presence often and wondered if you have felt mine. I have searched for you for years and will continue to search for you until I can one day say, I have finally found my older sister.

You have many who will love and cherish you as one of us. The years apart will not matter, what will matter is that you,  the missing part of us all is found.

That now we as brothers and sisters united will be complete.

I love you
